The El Segundo, CA office of an esteemed international accounting firm is recruiting a motivated and detail minded individual to join and grow within the professional staff of its Advisory Services group.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with professional staff to assist with profit participation and royalty contract compliance audits conducted on behalf of the firm's entertainment clients, which include songwriters, music publishers, recording artists, and other owners of intellectual property rights. Provide supporting roles in various other engagements such as the royalty administration of catalogs controlled by the firm's business management clients. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Provide assistance to senior staff in profit participation and royalty contract compliance audits to determine whether clients have been paid all royalties they are entitled to receive.
• Analysis and implementation of deal terms.
• Tracking of incoming royalty statements to ascertain completeness and accuracy.
• Preparation of royalty statements for writers, producers and other participants.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• At least one year experience with royalties at a record label or in music publishing, book publishing, video game publishing, or similar industry.
• Highly proficient in Excel (knowledge of pivot tables and look-ups are a must); knowledge of Access and/or SQL a plus.
• Strong analytical skills; experience working with large datasets a plus.
• Strong comprehension and communication skills, both written and oral.
• Organized and mindful of project deadlines.
• Comfortable engaging in correspondence with firm clients and/or auditee personnel.
• Work well with employees, clients and licensees.
