QC Technician (Contract)
We are a post-production facility located near LACMA. Currently, we are looking to fill a freelance contract QC position in our technical services department. We are looking for experienced, motivated individuals who are interested in working with and learning from an elite team in a facility that is fast-paced and innovative.
Skills and Qualifications:
• High level of technical knowledge of audio, video, and timed text specifications and quality control for digital platforms.
• Strong knowledge of media files: Codecs, video and audio coding formats (wrappers), frame rates, bit rates, sample rates, video resolutions, aspect ratios, broadcast audio configurations and electronic delivery technologies.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot quality control issues.
• Ability to operate waveform monitors, vector scopes, audio metering applications, non-linear edit systems, and asset management systems.
• Ingest of both finished and unfinished content and validate file integrity and adherence to format specifications.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot and resolve both media-based and MAM system-based technical anomalies - escalating as necessary according to established protocols.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot operational issues in real time while thinking critically to find solutions and implement the corrective actions, including escalation when needed.
• Assist manager in developing, maintaining and enforcing media management, storage and content security policies.
• Great verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to work within a team.
• Self-starter, capable of managing tasks efficiently, able to self-manage with a vested attitude.
• Ability to adapt to ongoing changes in processes, priorities, tasks and workload.
• Ability to handle a heavy volume of work while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
• Software: Adobe Premiere Pro, QuickTime Pro, Microsoft Office Suite
• File Transfer Systems: Aspera Connect, Google Drive, Dropbox
Desired Experience:
• Software: Pro Tools, DaVinci Resolve, Baton, VidChecker, CaptionMaker/MacCaption, Compressor, Adobe Media Encoder, Telestream Episode, FFMPEG
• Asset Management Systems: Bitrix
• Storage: SAN, NAS, LTO Tape Systems, Cloud Storage.
• File Transfer Systems: Aspera, Signiant, Wire Drive, FTP, Box.
• Hardware: Mac and PC, Video I/O, Wave Form Monitors & Vector Scopes, Broadcast Monitors, Audio Phase Meters and Monitors.
Additional Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Technology, Film or related discipline preferred.
• 3 years of Quality Control experience within media distribution, post production, television operations or an equivalent industry.
