Production Attorney

A leading production company of unscripted television content is seeking a Production Attorney with 2-3 years of in-house entertainment law experience (or at least 1 year at a law firm) to join our in-house Legal Department. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of unscripted series, supporting the company's needs from development through post-production.

Key Responsibilities:
Review and negotiate above-the-line agreements including talent, host, and producer deals.
Review and negotiate releases for various unscripted productions including appearance releases, location releases, and materials releases.
Draft and negotiate development/shopping agreements.
Review and negotiate music licenses and agreements.
Review rough and final cuts of episodes to identify and advise on clearance issues, such as copyright, defamation, privacy, and other legal concerns.
Collaborate with production, creative, and business and legal affairs teams to provide practical legal guidance throughout the production process.
Track and maintain records of all negotiated and executed agreements to support legal operations.
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school; member in good standing of at least one U.S. CA state bar.
2-3 years of in-house entertainment law experience, or at least 1 year at a reputable law firm.
An interest in or familiarity with the legal and business landscape of unscripted television, including issues related to talent, rights, and clearances.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced production environment and self-starter who does not need a lot of handholding.
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
