We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee our company's payroll system and manage the payroll process. The Payroll Specialist's responsibilities include maintaining and updating payroll records, preparing reports, and providing information to employees on payroll matters. Candidates must have a strong background in payroll administration and have recent experience with ADP payroll software, tax procedures, and relevant legislation. The Payroll Specialist will ensure the efficient, accurate, confidential, and timely processing of employee salaries and will be asked to assist the the accounting team in processing transactions and performing accounting duties such as account maintenance, recording entries and reconciling books of accounts.
Responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing electronic payments and distribution of payroll checks
• Processing payroll and maintaining payroll information
• Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages
• Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee federal and state taxes, insurance, employee benefit deductions, etc.
• Providing payroll information and resolving any payroll discrepancies
• Ensuring compliance with current tax, payroll legislation, and company policies.
• Preparing reports for upper management, finance department etc.
Additional support will be provided by Payroll Specialist to assist the accounting department as well.
Qualifications are as follows:
• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or comparable role
• Thorough knowledge of payroll procedures and legislation
• Expertise with ADP and MS Office (especially Excel)
• Attention to detail and strong mathematical skills
• High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
• Problem-solving skills to identify and rectify discrepancies in payroll records.
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Degree in accounting/business or relevant field; professional certification is a plus.
