Paid Intern - Recording Studio
Confidential
New York (Brooklyn), NYThis is a Full Time Paid Internship
Busy Brooklyn recording studio is looking for a fall paid intern to join the team and learn the music production business from the inside.
This is a hands-on, educational internship. You will work alongside a working music producer and the studio team, supporting daily studio operations and learning how professional records get made: session prep, scheduling, studio logistics, and the day-to-day of a high-output production studio. Great fit for someone early in their career who loves music, is comfortable around a studio, and wants real, practical experience.
What you'll do (learning and support):
• Studio operations support: help keep the studio day running smoothly - session setup, room prep, and keeping the space guest-ready for artists and clients.
• Schedule support: help the team track daily timelines, studio blocks, and meetings so sessions start on time.
• Studio communications: help coordinate with vendors, equipment techs, and guest artists under the team's direction.
• Production exposure: assist with basic Pro Tools session prep (track labeling, file organization, session cleanup) and learn DAW workflow hands-on. Prior experience is a plus, not a requirement - we'll teach the right person.
• Producer exposure: learn how a high-level producer runs his day - then take initiative: set up what's needed before being asked, train yourself on the tools and systems, and grow into the assistant/agent side of the business.
• Driving and errands: drive the producer and handle studio errands - vendor pickups, off-site sessions, and meetings around NYC.
What you'll learn:
• How a professional recording studio operates day to day
• Music production workflows, from session prep through delivery
• Pro Tools / DAW basics in a real working environment
• How a high-level producer's day is run - scheduling, communications, priorities, and the personal assistant/agent side of the business
• The business side of music production: scheduling, vendors, clients
Who you are:
• Love music and genuinely interested in music production as a career
• Eager assistant at heart: passionate about helping the producer get as much done as possible every day, and keeps everyone around him - including the project manager - in the loop
• Self-starter: eager to set things up, figure things out, and train yourself rather than wait to be shown
• Well put together with great energy: warm, professional, and positive around artists, clients, and the team
• Comfortable with technology; any Pro Tools or DAW experience is a plus
• Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
• Strong communicator, warm and professional with people
• Valid driver's license and comfortable driving in NYC
• Based in or near Brooklyn, NY
• Available for the fall; flexible hours, with some evenings around sessions
Details:
• Paid internship: $23.00 - 35.00 per hour, depending on experience
