Writing and Comedy Intern needed for the Development & Production department of an NYC-based talent management and production company that specializes in comedy. We produce a wide range of projects - TV shows, films, digital projects, podcasts, and live comedy shows - for our clients: comedians, writers, and actors, who can regularly be seen on Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, MTV, truTV, NBC, and more.
This candidate will work closely with talent (comedians, actors, writers) and/or a talent manager and learn how to develop, produce, and create content for TV, film, or the digital landscape. They'll also have an opportunity to sit in on development and production meetings, write loglines, provide feedback/script coverage, conduct research, write copy, and observe a writer's room. This internship is great for anyone looking to work in the TV/film industry.
Ideally, this candidate would work 2 - 3 days each week (6 - 8 hours each day) starting late April through August 2021. The ideal candidate is an excellent writer who is organized, creative, proactive, resourceful, ambitious, savvy, and detail-oriented.
Qualified candidates MUST BE:
- A great writer
- Interested in comedy
- Knowledgeable and passionate about the entertainment industry
- Great at project management, problem-solving, and researching
- A strategic thinker who is self-motivated and solutions-based
-Internet savvy and experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Excel) and Google Suite
- Familiar with Final Draft, Celtex, or other screenwriting software
BONUS POINTS FOR:
Graphic design experience
Video editing and/or photography skills
Knowledge on providing script coverage
Event production experience
Social media management skills
Knowledge of Squarespace, Canva, Mailchimp, Later, and similar platforms
INTERNSHIP DUTIES/TASKS:
Assisting in the writer's room
Reading TV and film scripts
Writing coverage
Proofreading scripts
Assist in creating pitch decks/one-sheets/treatments
Research contacts/update contact database
Assisting with day-to-day office duties
Assisting with social media content/editorial calendar
Assisting with newsletters
Assisting with production of live comedy shows and panels
