POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting into the General Manager, the Head of Security and Health & Safety will play a pivotal role in maintaining a secure and risk-free environment for our artworks while providing a welcoming experience for all visitors, employees, and assets. You will lead the security and health & safety protocols, developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to prevent theft, vandalism and unauthorized access, as well as to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in security management, health & safety protocols, and crisis response.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-With management team, develop, implement, and oversee security protocols, policies, and procedures to safeguard visitors, staff, artwork and production assets onsite.
- Lead the security and health & safety teams (whether inhouse, or outside vendors), providing leadership, training, and guidance to ensure a culture of safety and preparedness.
- Collaborate with exhibition leadership to define security and health & safety goals and align them with the overall mission and vision.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and implement appropriate measures to address them.
- Manage and coordinate emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid, and crisis communication.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services to establish strong relationships and ensure rapid response in case of emergencies.
- Work with IT Manager on the implementation of technology solutions, such as surveillance systems, access control, and alarm systems in line with overarching insurance requirements
- Monitor compliance with all safety and security regulations, codes, and standards set by the local jurisdiction.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to staff, ensuring a strong awareness of safety procedures and protocols.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and security breaches, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of security incidents, health & safety measures, and training activities.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the integration of security and safety considerations into overall operations and visitor experiences.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in security and health & safety technology.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience (15+ years) in security management, health & safety, or a related field, preferably in entertainment, cultural, or public venues.
- Strong knowledge of security best practices, risk assessment methodologies, and emergency response procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing and mentoring security and safety teams. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, visitors, and external partners.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address security and health & safety challenges in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in utilizing security and safety technology, including surveillance systems and access control.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and compliance requirements.
- Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the exhibition schedule.
- Prior experience with emergency response planning and crisis management is highly desirable.
- As this is a touring position, travel is required.
