Part Time Job
Film/TV Legal Delivery Document Review Analyst/Administrator (Remote Consultant / Part Time)
The Job
An experienced part time document reviewer and operations administrator in the rights and clearances document review lifecycle for film/TV who can work 3-5 hours a day with potential for more.
The Company
Established boutique business affairs consulting company dealing in high volume legal delivery and due diligence for both large and small film/TV companies. We are NOT a law firm.
Your Job Duties
• Review a high volume of documents and contracts for liability issues involving film/TV projects (chain of title, production contracts, music licenses and Errors and Omissions insurance). Contract review experience is MANDATORY.
• Handle a high volume of email correspondence between multiple parties
• Organize voluminous amounts of digital documents in Dropbox, SharePoint, Google Drive, Asana and other data management software
• Constant updating of grids, reports, checklists, form contracts, and document templates
• Ability to follow procedures and checklists with dozens of steps with no errors
• Track and hit deadlines for hundreds of projects via internal and client tracking grids and systems, sometimes urgently
• Correspond with 3rd parties to explain legal concepts and documents
• Create and update company training manuals, resources and procedures
• Explain legal concepts to creatives and filmmakers
• Work and supervise operations vendors conducting activities in marketing, content production, and tech maintenance
Job Requirements
· Must have either a JD or paralegal certification. State/National Bar certification is a plus. Open to non-US citizens but must have the qualifications in your jurisdiction.
· Must be available to work at least 3-5 hours a day every day during US work hours 9am-6pm PST. This is an every day job. Rare instances of same day client response may be required. You MUST be able to check in at least twice a day and be available to respond.
· Must have at least 2 years experience in film/TV rights and clearances management and document review at a law firm, in-house legal department of a studio, distributor, or sales company. Strongly prefer at least 3-4 years. Ideally you should have handled due diligence or legal delivery on at least 50 films/series.
· Strong experience in chain of title, film/TV production documents, and music license review. E&O review experience a major plus.
· Must have a working knowledge of the film/television production, sales and distribution industry
· Mandatory: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs), Dropbox, SharePoint, Box, Adobe.
· Plus: Asana, PowerPoint, Airtable, Learning management systems(Kajabi, Talent LMS, etc.), extensive knowledge of legal software systems
· For applicants based in CA (or jurisdictions with similar independent contractor laws) you must have, or form before engagement, a loan out company as an LLC or Corporation. No exceptions.
Ideal Candidate Will Bring:
· Analysis skills- the ability to read contract language quickly determine liability risks, best/worst case scenarios and what language would be needed to reduce liability risk
· Experience creating and executing multi-step detail-oriented procedures and systems
· Deadline management system. You will have dozens of deadlines a week. Be prepared to explain how nothing will fall through the cracks.
· Broad experience. You will be working across disciplines in legal, administration, marketing, operations, I.T., human resources and customer/client facing interaction
· Qualities: Client-first mentality, Problem-solving, Detail-driven, Accountability, Pride in high quality work that reflects on your personal and company reputation, Ability to work independently, Responsibility, Strong analytical, organization, and critical thinking skills
· Must absolutely be able to follow detailed directions
· Ability to learn fast and take detailed notes to reference
· Patience when dealing with people who are pushy or resist your requests
· Discretion when safeguarding confidential information and files
· Passion for a long term career in film/TV legal business affairs
· Plus: Familiarity with guild and union regulations (SAG-AFTRA, DGA and WGA)
