This is a Full Time Job
Need Editors for talking head World War II doc series airing on History featuring sit down interviews and archival/GFX coverage. Approximately 8 to 10 week job.
NOTE - must be able to work on-site at offices in Glendale, CA. Not negotiable.
Must have extensive experience in talking head, archival-driven content. Prior credits on History shows are also a plus.
We are looking for editors with more than just field-based show experience. There is ZERO field footage being shot for this show other than sit down interviews. We need editors who are fluent maestros in the language of building doc content using sound bites and archive coverage.
Core skills required include:
• Use VO/Sound Bites, Music, and Coverage in unison to creatively shape engaging sections and ''pods'' to maintain interest throughout each segment
• Understand how this type of content should be paced for maximum impact and shifting between sections
• Work with the team to select the best possible archive for both storytelling and visual impact
• Work with GFX not only to help conceptualize graphics needs, but also to heighten the visual style/impact of old archival material from WW II
This show will be edited with a high degree of polish, flair, and impact. Need editors who are game for making these segments look and sound as good as they can, with a keen eye towards intentionality and strong choices. We are looking for editors who understand how to avoid these pitfalls: generic ''wallpaper'' use of images, flat scoring, run-on or repetitive pacing, or anything resembling a ''cookie-cutter'' approach.
Must also be a team player. This is a new show on a quick timeframe, so being in sync with Producers, Archive, GFX, and your fellow editors is essential. We need editors who are fully communicative and integrated into the overall production.
High visibility series with potential for much longer orders in success after this first order.
The estimated weekly range for this role is between $3,500 and $4,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
