A newly formed Production Company supported in a joint venture with an industry leader is poised to be a leading provider of premium content and is looking to build a dynamic, experienced, and out-of-the box thinking team..
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial management of the company. This role will oversee all facets of finance and accounting; from production accounting team management, to ensuring timely and accurate reporting of actual and estimated show costs. This role will collaborate with teams on budgets and analyses and is responsible for protecting company assets through cash management and ongoing monitoring of adherence to policies and procedures.
This is a remote position, at this time we are only considering candidates who reside in NJ, NY, GA, TX,CA, and FL. Occasional travel to Atlanta headquarters, nationwide Production Offices, and shoot locations is required.
Responsibilities
Work with the parties of the joint venture to ensure that the financial needs, goals and requirements of the JV arrangement are met and adhered to.
Be responsible for the short and long-term financial health of the company, ensure adequate controls, lead strategic financial planning covering annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and forecasting
Partner with Business and Legal Affairs, Production Accounting, Production Management and Tax Departments to effectively oversee and support the full range of financial and accounting functions including financial planning, reporting and analysis, accounting services, budget planning, treasury management, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and tax.
Work with Business Management Team to adjust, and adapt the annual and 5 Year Business Plan for presentation to the Board of Directors.
Consult with and advise the CEO and President on financial, risk, and operational strategies for the company.
Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business
Establish processes and policies to ensure the integrity of the organization's financial operations, financial systems, and financial statements
Oversee the team of Production Accountants, Payroll Accountants, Clerks and Assistants as they offer financial support to productions
Work with Lead Production Accountant to prepare of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports and drive accurate, complete and timely cost reporting
Work with Lead Production Accountant to hire, train, manage and retain show Production Accounting teams, in addition to direct and indirect staff with the skillset, to provide the highest level of Production Accounting support
Review all financial documents prepared by Production Accountants including budgets, cost reports, trial balances and petty cash reconciliations
Ensure the financial controllership and production policies and procedures are uniformly implemented, and that payroll is in accordance with standards established and are in compliance with state and local tax regulations
Manage production incentive workflow and ensure receipt of tax credits or cash in partnership
Represent the organization to financial partners, auditors, insurance brokers, and other relevant providers
Implement and oversee cost analysis system
Maintain appropriate internal control safeguards. Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses
Stay abreast of current and changing industry trends, evolving technologies and production incentives
Qualifications:
Candidates must have 5+ years experience in television production accounting
Bachelor's degree required. Preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. CPA preferred
Broad understanding of production incentives
Expert skill level of Movie Magic Budgeting and industry standard production accounting systems
Solid understanding of payroll process and tax requirements
Experience with preparation of television series shows budgets and estimates
Some occasional travel will be required
Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.
