DIRECTOR OF DISTRIBUTION
Duties for the position involve strategic planning and execution of independent film sales and acquisitions strategy.
Responsibilities/Duties: Sales
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Pitching, negotiating, and executing IFTA licensing agreements
• Creating worldwide market projections for new and potential projects
• Creation of marketing campaigns for films
• Preparations for film markets including AFM. EFM, MIPTV, Cannes etc.
• Updating and maintaining client database, creating target lists of clients, prospecting new clients
• Preparing availability reports for international distributors
• Updating and maintaining the rights management database and sales contract database
• Collecting royalty statements
• Following up with potential clients
• Assisting with the company's participation in various films festivals and markets including - organization of booth, event preparation, product listing, coordinating events at select major film festivals
• The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, can juggle multiple projects at once, and can thrive under tight deadlines
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of film sales experience in a studio, independent film distribution or global film sales organization.
• Buyer relationships in all major and minor territories
• Track record of past sales from 2017, 2016 and 2015
Responsibilities/Duties: Acquisitions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Source and identify opportunities for film licensing, including deep awareness of upcoming content pipelines; vetting content submissions, combining objective and subjective judgment
• Source content from producers, production companies, agencies and sales reps
• Screen content from both a creative and business perspective
• Make recommendations to senior management regarding content suitable for acquisition
• Draft proposals and negotiate material business terms with producers, production companies, and sales reps
• Summarize completed deals and communicate business terms to all relevant department heads.
• Provide deal support to acquisitions colleagues
• Complete special projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
A strong network of producers, agency contacts, and filmmakers
