Part Time Job
We can save ourselves a good bit of time if:
1. You understand I am not a corporation(well I am technically, but that is for my accountant) therefore please do not start you cover letter with ''To Whom it May Concern,'' or some form of that. This only concerns me (Michael) and possibly my Dogs; Phoebe and Comet, if you wish you can consider Phoebe ''Office Manager''... yes they are Dogs, so Requirement 1: Love Dogs. Any letter sent with that I will not read. Thanks
2. This this job will located partly on-set with me when I'm shooting, partly from my home office in the valley and partly out of an office I share in Hollywood. Weeks are flexible and will be between 2 days and 5 days depending on my shooting schedule. If any of my development projects are picked up the job would go full-time immediately.
3. Please write an interesting cover letter, resumes are lovely but in all honestly I will get a much better peek at who you are with what you write me. Avoid being generic, feel free to express humor, irony, satire, but most of all be authentic.
ME:
I am a Director and my day jobs for 20+ years have been in the live/Multi-camera space, I've been doing this for longer than most applicants have been alive ... sigh, but I still love the energy of live and luckily I've done ok and even won some awards along the way.
I have several projects in active development that are passion projects and the main focus of my time now. Both in scripted and non-scripted areas.
I have a typically busy life, juggling a home re-location and navigating the changing landscape of Production while dealing with all types of Hollywood neurotics and egos(I have a very slight ego and moderate neurosis.)
I am a Born and Bred New Yorker but I've lived in LA a long time and have a great acupuncturist.
I am obsessed with Music, Basketball and the Multiverse.
I am very active in progressive politics, please do the Math here, I am not nor would I ever ask who you voted for, but I hope you get where I'm coming from.
YOU:
This job breaks down int 3 areas:
- Manage my life and all that goes with it; calendar, travel, appointments, people, website etc. Being ORGANIZED Is absolutely essential, I detest clutter.
- Work on shoots with on-set in the capacity of Production Assistant assigned to me.
- Development: help and contribute in all aspects from putting together pitch decks to casting ideas, to research,
Skills:
- Be a very good writer and editor to make sure my sloppy writing doesn't leave into the world. I will need to see writing samples why the cover letter is so important.
- Be a very quick learner and problem solver.
- You will often be working by yourself, so be very organized and efficient.
- Skill with Apple Products, apps, social media(i hate social media but it's 2018)
- Script Coverage
- Working knowledge of production and basic terms.
- Fascination and obsession with Film/TV/Web content.
- French cooking... ok at least understand where to take out from.
Required:
- At least two jobs in the industry, recent college graduates 2 internships in Tv/FIlm
- Three references from people in the industry or closely related fields.
-4 year college degree, some brilliant talented people never went to college that is fine, but tell me your path if you didn't go to college.
- Passport, valid spotless driving record
- YOu will be given a level 3 background check, which I think is scarier than a level 2?
- I''m repeating this but you MUST have a working knowldege of TV/FIlm content business and some sense of history and some sense of what is going on in the world.
OK, if anyone read this far feel free to send your stuff.
