Production Assistant - Culinary Creator
Location: Detroit, Michigan metro area (or US remote)
Position: Independent Contractor - Part-Time (20 hours a week)
Compensation: Hourly (based on experience and final scope)
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced creative environment, loves food and digital media, and is comfortable jumping between production, kitchen, and organizational responsibilities. No two production days are the same, so we're looking for someone adaptable, resourceful, and willing to help wherever needed.
The Production Assistant will work closely with Creator and the broader team to help ensure shoots run smoothly from preparation through wrap.
Responsibilities
• Assist with the day-to-day production of social media, branded, and editorial content across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms.
• Support pre-production, production days, and post-production organization.
• Assist with food preparation, ingredient organization, kitchen setup, and cleanup for recipe and cooking shoots.
• Source and purchase groceries, ingredients, props, production supplies, and other materials needed for shoots.
• Prepare production spaces before filming, including organizing equipment, props, ingredients, surfaces, and backgrounds.
• Help maintain an organized and efficient kitchen, studio, and production environment.
• Assist with basic camera, lighting, audio, and production equipment setup as needed.
• Track props, equipment, products, ingredients, and other production materials.
• Receive, organize, and manage incoming brand products and production shipments.
• Assist with branded content productions and ensure required products and materials are prepared and available for filming.
• Help coordinate production schedules, shot lists, call sheets, and other production documents.
• Run production-related errands and handle time-sensitive requests.
• Capture behind-the-scenes content when needed.
• Assist Creator and the production team with additional creative and operational needs as they arise.
Qualifications
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive and able to anticipate needs rather than waiting for direction.
• Comfortable working in a kitchen and around food.
• Genuine interest in food, cooking, content creation, and social media.
• Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and the creator economy.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-moving production environment.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable handling multiple priorities and last-minute changes.
• Willing to perform both creative production tasks and less glamorous responsibilities like grocery runs, dishes, organization, and cleanup.
• Able to lift and transport production equipment, groceries, props, and supplies as needed.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license preferred.
• Previous experience as a Production Assistant, Content Assistant, studio assistant, or similar role is preferred but not required.
Bonus Qualifications
• Experience working on food or cooking productions.
• Basic knowledge of cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
• Photography or videography experience.
• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar editing software.
• Experience working with creators, influencers, digital media companies, or branded content productions.
• Culinary experience or a strong personal interest in cooking.
