Controller/Head of Finance

This is a Full Time Job

A hands-on Controller with production accounting experience and strong GAAP knowledge. You'll keep books clean, control job costs/WIP, and protect cash flow, at production speed.

Responsibilities
* Own GL, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statements
* Run accruals and cost matching by job/period; keep books audit-ready
* Oversee job costing across prep/production/post/wrap; maintain WIP (actuals, accrued, committed)
* Partner with producers on budget vs. actuals; flag overages and timing risk early
* Ensure timely job closeout, final cost reports, and clean wraps
* Own weekly cash forecasting; manage AP/AR rhythm to prevent cash surprises
* Implement/enforce controls (approvals, payment runs, expense policy, payroll coordination)
* Manage AP/Bookkeeper; document simple workflows that the team follows
* Liaise with payroll, tax advisors, and external accountants; support audits/tax packages

Qualifications
* 8-12+ years accounting/finance experience
* Production accounting background (production company/post house/studio/agency production), ideally with union exposure
* Strong GAAP command; comfortable owning close, WIP, job costing, and cash forecasting
* Process-driven, direct communicator; willing to enforce discipline without slowing the business
