We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to join our growing team and report to our General Counsel. This position will primarily manage contract processes and develop and maintain internal rights management systems. Preferred candidates will have strong multi-tasking skills and a willingness to tackle new challenges. Attention to detail and managing projects with minimal supervision are essential. The candidate will interface with multiple internal departments and outside vendors to coordinate negotiations, contract drafting, and contract management for subject matter, including but not limited to corporate management, marketing, commerce-based licensing, audiovisual productions, and IP management. In addition, the candidate will work closely with the General Counsel to develop long-term processes and policies for the Legal Department. We are looking for a proactive self-starter with genuine curiosity, commitment, and enthusiasm. The qualified candidate should demonstrate commitment and values that include Upholding the highest standards of integrity and trust, being committed to learning and sharing knowledge, and being able to understand, be sensitive to, appreciate, and respond to cultural differences and the interactions resulting from them.
What you'll do:
- Facilitate production-legal activities for motion picture productions, including but not limited to performing quality control checks and collection of below-the-line contracts, issue spotting production needs, and managing guild paperwork;
- Support commerce entities by issuing, and tracking the completion of basic work-for-hire agreements, location agreements, and releases;
- Implement and maintain rights management systems to support all business operations;
- Support the creation of playbooks, standard operating procedures, templates, and systems for managing contracts; cataloging rights portfolios; supporting production/legal contract intake for film productions; IP brand protection and enforcement; general commercial operations; and external and internal complaints.
- Coordinate projects with outside counsel.
- Preparing, proofreading, and redlining legal documents, including drafting contracts and correspondence.
- Maintain legal files.
- Perform legal research as needed and special projects and administrative duties as assigned.
- Coordinate and draft applications for IP matters, including trademarks and copyrights.
- Coordinate rights clearance, management, and compliance across multiple departments.
- Project manage select projects, attend meetings with key stakeholders, monitor ongoing progress to ensure deadlines are met, and report back to the General Counsel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of legal experience, preferably in the entertainment industry (paralegal certificate is a bonus);
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office software programs (Emphasis on MS Word), Adobe software, database software, billing software, contract execution platforms, document management software, and online research skills
- Studio, guild, film distribution, fashion, brand licensing, and/or e-commerce experience is a plus
- Familiarity with intellectual property rights management
- Ability to identify and ask questions to resolve ambiguity and prioritize disparate requests
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
- Strong research skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and follow-up and follow-through on multiple projects
- High level of integrity, initiative, motivation, accountability, and ownership
- Strategic thinker who is able to consider challenges from multiple perspectives
- Strong communicator, able to articulate your point of view, collaborate, and bridge gaps
- Driven, resourceful, and can think outside the box while managing day-to-day tasks

- Prior experience building scalable operational support infrastructure
- Self-directed professional. With the ability to strategize and execute strong time management
- Able to work independently, with little or no supervision, and deliver on results
- Ability to write clear, concise reports, professional business correspondence, and detailed process documents
- Proven ability to effectively present and communicate information and respond to questions from employees of all levels of the organization
