Title: Assistant Editor
Department: Post Production
Direct Supervisor: Post Supervisor
General Summary: This position supports the editorial staff and works with the Editor to set up and maintain edit projects.
Essential Functions:
- Sets up and organizes edit projects according to the specific needs of the production.
- Accountable for all media including proper ingest, media location etc.
- Orchestrate proper labeling, syncing and grouping techniques required by each production's needs.
- Prepare the show offline sequences for delivery to online facility.
- Able to visually distinguish fine details and edits in order to maintain uniformity and consistency across various show elements, including all fonts, colors and graphics.
- Able to learn and master archiving protocols for shows and company media for future retrieval.
- Able to appropriately handle stress, respond to time-sensitive deadlines, and maintain overall composure.
- Adapt to changed situations or changing demands, and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate (including emergencies).
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interface with staff, executives, and departments in a collaborative and tactful manner.
- Demonstrate reliability and diligence in setting and executing daily tasks, and share a sense of urgency and determination to accomplish set goals.
- Capable of positively handling verbal, written, and social interactions with others on a regular basis, and positively accepting regular feedback, criticism or changing preferences regarding the work product related to a particular show or series.
- Exhibit professional composure and competency when regularly interacting with high-level executives.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- At least 1 year experience working as an assistant editor in Post-Production.
- Must be proficient in Avid Media composer.
- Must have working knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Docs.
Physical Demands:
- This position requires occasional lifting of no more than 5 to 10lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to remain in a sedentary position for long time periods in order to watch footage, sit and type at a monitor during assigned shifts.
Work Environment:
- This position requires no travel.
- This position does not require the use of a company or personal vehicle for work related tasks.
- Very quiet and sometimes dark and solitary environment.
- This position does require moderate email and phone correspondence.
- This position is hourly with potential for overtime.
- The Assistant Editor works either a day or a night shift.
