Assistant Editor - Finisher / Post Production Dept.
An Assistant editor / Finisher at our company serves in a support role in the editorial process. They do the many tasks associated with setting up the initial edit project such as project creation, ingesting shoot footage, drive management, sync'ng sound and grouping cameras. During the editorial process they log footage, rough out initial cuts, and post files for approval. As a finisher they prepare for color correction and audio mixing, re-link high resolution and color corrected footage, prepare for final delivery and upload and download files through ftp's and client portals. They also are responsible for quality control on client deliveries.
Minimum 3 years' experience in post-production.
Must be Mac proficient and have a good knowledge of software involved in post including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere and Black Magic Resolve Studio. You must have significant experience in all three of these softwares to be considered for the position.
Knowledge of HD and UHD television formats and workflows including mixed frame rate environments.
Knowledge of broadcast compression formats, codecs, LUTs and transcoding.
Knowledge of advanced camera files such as Red, Alexa, Sony, Canon, etc..
Ability to understand television monitoring and signal measurement
Assist editors in all project needs
Great people/client skills
Great communication skills
Ability to work on multiple projects
Ability to work in a demanding post environment
Ability to work as part of team
Be responsive to critique and technical challenges
Willingness to embrace new technologies / industry trends
Technical Tasks:
Transcode file-based raw camera files / shoot footage / apply LUT's
Ingest file shoot footage into Avid /Premiere (5D, Red, Alexa, ProRes, Etc.)
Organize complex editorial projects
Prepare projects for color correction
Prepare projects for delivery (string out, mild color correction, create slates etc…)
Create digital files for final deliveries
Quality control finished files
Upload/download files from/to client sites (FTP/Aspera/Signiant)
Assist editors with technical dilemmas (trouble shooting and problem solving)
