DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS for Entertainment Law Firm
Position Overview
The Director of Operations is a strategic, solutions-oriented leader responsible for overseeing the firm's day-to-day business functions. This role ensures that attorneys and staff can focus on delivering exceptional legal service by optimizing operations, improving workflow, and driving operational excellence across the firm. The Director of Operations reports directly to the two Managing Partners of the firm and serves as a key member of the leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration
•Oversee daily firm operations, ensuring efficient workflow across all departments.
•Develop, refine, and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
•Manage vendor relationships, facility operations, and administrative support.
Financial Management
•Collaborate with partners on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
•Monitor financial performance, billing processes, accounts payable/receivable, and collections.
•Optimize cost-efficiency while supporting firm growth and quality of service.
•Manage billing, A/R departments and processes.
Human Resources & Talent Management
•Supervise hiring, onboarding, and development of attorneys, staff and interns.
•Implement performance management systems and support a positive, inclusive firm culture.
•Manage staff workflow, workload balance, and professional development programs.
Compliance & Risk Management
•Ensure compliance with legal ethics rules, confidentiality standards, and regulatory obligations.
•Maintain policies related to data privacy, document retention, conflicts management, and office security.
•Work closely with firm leadership to anticipate and mitigate operational risks.
Technology & Systems
•Lead technology upgrades and ensure staff receive appropriate training.
•Manage IT vendor and assess near- and long-term IT, hardware and software needs.
•Evaluate new tools that can enhance efficiency, automation, and client experience.
Strategic Projects & Business Operations
•Support the partners in long-term planning, growth initiatives, and process optimization.
•Lead cross-functional projects related to expansion, staffing, technology, or new practice areas.
•Identify opportunities for operational improvement and drive implementation.
Qualifications
•5+ years of operations or management experience, ideally within a law firm or professional services environment.
•Strong understanding of law firm workflows, billing practices and professional standards.
•Proven experience managing teams and increasing operational efficiency.
•Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
•Proficiency with billing software (e.g., Practice Panther), human resources, insurance and other administrative platforms a plus.
•Bachelor's degree required.

Salary/Benefits
$130,000.00
- 160,000.00
per year
