We are a staffing agency seeking a legal affairs attorney for a top entertainment production company. The position would also include some business affairs activity and be a key member of the company's business team.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Structuring deals, negotiating and drafting agreements, handling business relationships related to a variety of business areas.
Developing and maintaining relationships at major talent agencies, law firms, financiers, production companies, and relevant industry contacts
Leading negotiations with agencies, studios, and other industry partners
Position will also require evening or early morning calls with overseas clients during contract negotiations
Requirements:
Juris Doctor degree and member in good standing with the California Bar
Sound basic business sense and demonstrated ability
Ability to carry negotiations through final execution of agreements with minimal amount of supervision
Strong multi-tasking ability, quick and decisive thinker in a fast-paced business environment
Negotiate arrangements related to development with talent, studios, and domestic/international production companies, development and production of digital imagery, films, and themed entertainment.
Understanding of agreements for major entertainment guilds (WGA and SAG in particular)
Ability to work collaboratively with Producers and Accountants to structure agreements and interface with clients
Practicing entertainment attorney at a law firm or in-house, with pre-existing industry relationships with agents, talent, networks, and producers
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Understanding of basic employment law related to issues of production, Intellectual Property, risk management, and rights of publicity and privacy.
Understanding of tax incentives with an emphasis on Canada would be a plus.
Experience in entrepreneurial business environment would be a plus.
