Position Purpose / Core Function:
Provides contract administration support to the Business & Legal Affairs Department.
Outline of Specific Functions:
• Basic drafting of standard agreements (including, but not limited to, master use licenses, producer, remixer, video, artwork and photography agreements) and other-music related agreements and miscellaneous letters and notices as directed.
• Handle all incoming and outgoing artist/guest artist clearances, exclusivity waivers, festival and live performance clearances.
• Responsible for sweepstakes, contests and promotions as requested internally.
• Interpret and prepare contract summaries, maintain information database and keep deadlines of license terms, termination notices and option exercise dates.
• Maintain contract forms.
• Perform due diligence, legal and other research in connection with respect to the acquisition of music assets.
• Responsible for general corporate compliance and general corporate matters.
• Handle processing of copyright and trademark registrations and trademark maintenance.
• Draft cease and desist letters and issue takedowns.
• Assist with third party claims and litigation matters.
• Review label copy, artwork and legal lines for all releases.
• Work on special projects and perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the music industry within the business and legal affairs department at a record label or at a law firm
• Bachelor's degree, Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience is preferred
• Self-starter, who has the desire to be proactive, take initiative and be resourceful
• Must have superb accuracy, be extremely detail-oriented, complete tasks in accordance with instructions and possess strong follow-up skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast-paced, team environment
• Capable of handling a heavy volume of work
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and documents
• Must have excellent typing and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
• General acceptance and agreement with the Company's core values
