About The Comedy Village
Nestled between Times Square & Hell's Kitchen, The Comedy Village is a new comedy club dedicated to creating an unforgettable experience for our audience by showcasing the best emerging and established talent in a vibrant, intimate setting. We're not just a club; we're a community of laughter - because comedy takes a village.
The Opportunity
Are you obsessed with TikTok trends, know how to craft the perfect Instagram story, and live for that viral Twitter thread? Do you have a passion for comedy and the unique energy of New York City? The Comedy Village is looking for a creative and energetic Social Media Marketing Intern to join our small, fast-paced team.
This is a hands-on role where you'll help shape our online voice, engage with our growing community, and play a key part in putting butts in seats. You'll get real-world experience in social media strategy, content creation, and digital marketing for an emerging NYC brand.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Assist in shooting and editing short-form video content (Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) featuring behind-the-scenes moments, comedian interviews, clips from shows, and humorous social trends.
Community Management: Monitor and engage with our audience across all platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, Facebook), responding to comments and DMs in our signature witty tone.
Live Social Coverage: Help run social media during live shows, including posting stories, engaging with the audience in real-time, and capturing the electric atmosphere of the club.
Graphic Design: Use Canva or basic Adobe tools to create engaging graphics to promote upcoming shows, special events, and drink specials.
Brainstorming & Strategy: Participate in creative meetings to brainstorm campaign ideas, content series, and new ways to grow our online presence and drive ticket sales.
Trend Spotting: Keep your finger on the pulse of social media and comedy trends, suggesting ways for The Comedy Village to participate authentically.
Who You Are (Qualifications)
Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a program related to Marketing, Communications, Media Studies, or a similar field.
A deep understanding of and active presence on major social media platforms, especially Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter/X.
Basic skills in shooting and editing video on a smartphone (familiarity with apps like CapCut, InShot, or basic Premiere Rush is a plus).
A sharp, funny, and engaging writing style that can adapt to the unique voice of a comedy club.
A genuine love for comedy and a knowledge of the current comedy scene.
A self-starter who is proactive, resourceful, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work some evenings (at least 2-3 nights per week) and weekends to capture live content. Schedules are flexible around classes.
