The Senior Director, West Coast Operations, Viacom Digital Studios: Comedy Central will be directly responsible for representing VDS’ goals, strategy and initiatives in Comedy Central’s West Coast office by interfacing daily with the extended VDS teams across brands, Comedy Central network executives and internal Comedy Central VDS team. S/he will report directly in to the Executive Producer, Viacom Digital Studios: Comedy Central .
The ideal candidate must be comfortable working collaboratively within a large, multi-layered organization.
S/he will work closely with many groups within the department and elsewhere in Comedy Central. The ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively with VDS and Comedy Central’s Development, Brand Creative, Video Production, Marketing, and Social teams is essential.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Manage the development, communication and execution of strategies for digital content across various departments in the west coast office both within Comedy Central and VDS
• Build and manage relationships with Comedy Central’s development team as it pertains to the strategy for all digital original content produced and published by VDS and digital shows teams
• Interface with VDS talent, content and partnership executives to maintain relationships, knowledge transfers and learnings for Comedy Central VDS and the network
• Work with Executive Producer to refine best practices and ensure changes are accurately communicated out to teams both in VDS and at the network
• Identify areas of potential growth, optimization and opportunities for senior Comedy Central management and give recommendations on how to pivot and evolve
• Foster team unity, culture, and relationships between digital shows team, production, Comedy Central development and VDS
Additional responsibilities:
• Partner with Social, Production and Brand Creative to ensure best processes are in place and educate team members both junior and senior
• Understand research and analytics as they pertain to changing strategies on digital platforms
• Understand and adhere to VDS goals and KPIs in all recommendations and presentations
• Manage positive working relationships across a variety of Viacom divisions in order to elevate Comedy Central’s VDS footprint, capabilities and offerings
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or, equivalent work experience
• 6-8 years of experience working in digital strategy and/or a social video production environment for a major network, brand or agency
• Understanding of production life-cycles for digital videos, content and social assets
• Experience in driving strategy and executing experiences that drive engagement on social media
• Intimate familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat and other major social networks
• Understanding of the digital, social and emerging platforms space
• Experience working with development executives and talent
• Familiarity with the Comedy Central brand and series a plus
• Working knowledge and understanding of digital technologies, such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, CMS tools, Google Drive, Slack and more
• A self-starter
• Extremely detail-oriented
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
• Ability to multi-task on several projects at once
• Experience in leadership, managing teams, mentoring and providing creative and strategic guidance
• Up to 25% required travel to New York
