Salary: £19,890 per annum
Comedy Central is a leading Pay TV General Entertainment channel and is part of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN). The channel broadcasts a mix of hit US acquisitions and original UK productions targeting a 16-34 year-old audience. Popular shows include Impractical Jokers, Your Face or Mine, South Park, Drunk History, Joel & Nish Vs The World, Friends, The Chris Ramsay Show and Takeshi’s Castle
Our Team:
Development is a key part of Comedy Central’s Programming Department which consists of commissioning, scheduling, acquisitions, research and media planning. Comedy Central’s development intern will report to the VP of Original Content Development and Production to find and develop new formats and talent for Comedy Central, ensuring ideas fit the channel’s remit; to be distinctive, relatable (to our 16-35 demographic, fearless, and, above all, funny.
What you’ll be doing:
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinating pitches and treatments from production companies and internally
• Identifying and researching ideas (through live shows, online, radio, podcasts and television) and flagging up those with potential to work for Comedy Central
• Reading pitches, treatments and scripts, viewing tasters or other visual material, and assessing how they might be developed for CC
General Duties:
• Organise and participate in external and internal meetings
• Assist in prioritising new ideas
• General admin as and when required including updating the submissions, talent, writers and casting databases
You will be:
• Enthusiastic, lively, confident and driven – a self-starter
• Team player, flexible, open to feedback and continuous learning
You will have:
• Passion for comedy, keen interest in our programming as well as other television, live and online comedy
• Enthusiasm to work and progress in television
• Excellent communication skills, including strong writing ability
• Combination of strategic and creative thinking
• Great organizational skill and attention to detail – takes pride in their work
• Good time management, ability to prioritise projects and work to quick deadlines
• Knowledge or experience of television or media (preferable)
• Knowledge of media landscape – media outlets (preferable)
• Knowledge and interest in a wide range of social media, especially video platforms
Nice to have:
• MS Office skills, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word
• Technical skills such as shooting editing skills – useful, but not essential
