Role Overview:
We are looking for a skilled, warehouse-based Repair Technician to join our growing Los Angeles repair department. You will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and carrying out component-level repairs on moving lights, LED fixtures, LED panels, consoles, and control systems that power some of the biggest tours, festivals, and live productions in North America. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who takes pride in precision, problem-solving, and keeping gear road-ready.
Key responsibilities:
Test, troubleshoot, and carry out component-level repairs on moving lights, LED fixtures, consoles, and lighting control systems.
Inspect and maintain automated lighting equipment, keeping accurate service, maintenance, and inspection records.
Solder and de-solder components at the PCB level, working from schematics to diagnose and resolve faults.
Use digital test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, DMX/RDM testers) to diagnose and verify repairs.
Maintain sufficient stock of spare parts and consumables to support the ongoing needs of the repair department.
Maintain a relationship with suppliers to aid in repairing of equipment
Support quality control and pre-show/pre-tour equipment checks ahead of dispatch.
Observe safe wiring practices and adhere to all established safety policies and industry standards.
Maintain a flexible schedule to support show call turnarounds, tour prep, and occasional on-call maintenance.
Collaborate with the wider warehouse, prep, and logistics teams to ensure equipment is show-ready on schedule.
Required skills and qualifications:
Technical/electronics training and/or hands-on repair experience; a background in entertainment or corporate AV/lighting is preferred but not essential.
Solid working knowledge of electronics, AC/DC principles, motion control, and digital communications (DMX/RDM, Ethernet-based protocols).
Confident soldering/de-soldering skills and the ability to read and interpret PCB schematics.
Ability to perform light mechanical assembly/disassembly on fixtures and related equipment.
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting mindset, with good attention to detail under time pressure.
A team-first, self-motivated attitude, comfortable in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be able to reliably commute to our Los Angeles facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience repairing moving lights, LED fixtures, or lighting control consoles for a rental house, touring company, or manufacturer.
Familiarity with major moving-light and control platforms (e.g., Robe, Clay Paky, MA Lighting, ETC, Chauvet Professional).
Associate's degree or vocational certification in electronics, mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Experience using digital test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and DMX/RDM testers.
Physical requirements and work environment:
Regularly required to stand, bend, kneel, and work at a bench for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Work is performed primarily in a warehouse setting; exposure to typical warehouse conditions (noise, dust, varying temperatures).
Manual dexterity and close-vision work (soldering, small-component handling) required.
Occasional evening, weekend, or on-call availability may be required to support show and tour schedules.
