Part-Time Communications Assistant
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist on all baseball and team communications for the organization, representing the Rockies brand in a positive and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the department in day-to-day media relations and baseball information activities for the organization, including but not limited to:
• Production of daily media clips, stat packs, lineup sheets and game notes.
• Distribution of materials to the press box, TV and radio broadcast booths, clubhouses and suite areas.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with the working media.
• Stay current on all coverage of the team and organization, assisting in developing strategy therein as needed.
• Help ensure accurate and up-to-date information on any organizational materials or platforms.
• Provide thorough fact checking and editing for all department projects and organizational projects as needed.
Always have an eye for storylines/content and ways to proactively tell those stories through local and national media and on the Rockies various platforms, i.e. social media, advertising, marketing and blog.
Assist as needed with various administrative functions within the Communications and Marketing Department.
• Provide content, edit and post to the Rockies Blog.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Completed or pursuing a bachelor's degree in a related field; candidates reaching at least a junior level of coursework preferred. Preference given to those with availability for the entirety of the Rockies' baseball season (March-September/October).
• Strong knowledge of baseball, statistics and game/team history.
• Strong interpersonal communications skills, ability to work effectively and professionally with people at various levels inside and outside the organization.
• Highest standards of professionalism, integrity and work ethic and ability to multi-task, time manage and organize.
• Excellent writing and editing skills; attention to detail is a must.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and layout software (Adobe In-Design primarily, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus).
• Consistent, punctual and regular attendance; willingness to work long hours, weekends and holidays.
• Spanish language (verbal and/or written) is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• A limit of 1,450 hours may be worked in each calendar year.
• In-season hours (March-Oct) will be concentrated around Rockies home games and will include long hours, nights and weekends.
• Offseason scheduled hours will be reduced with most work falling within standard business hours (9 a.m.-5p.m., Monday-Friday).
SALARY RANGE:
• $17.40 per hour. This is a temporary status part-time position not eligible for all company benefits
