POSITION SUMMARY:
Collaborate on all baseball and business communications for the organization, representing the Rockies brand in a positive and professional manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Day-to-Day Media Relations: Assist the department in day-to-day media relations and public relations activities for the organization, with an emphasis on baseball information.
• Work closely with director and supervisor on all baseball information duties, including but not limited to production and distribution of daily game notes, Minor League reports, stat packs, lineup sheets, transactions and news releases.
• A deep knowledge of baseball and baseball research resources is favored in this role. Using MLB.com, Elias Sports Bureau, STATS and other services, ensure thorough research and provide statistical analysis for media materials, Rockies Magazine, Rockies Magazine Blog, game notes, news releases, as well as to baseball operations and front office staff as needed. Write and edit content for all of these organizational platforms as well.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in arranging interviews between players, coaches and staff and the media.
• Always have an eye for storylines/content and ways to proactively tell those stories through local and national media and on the Rockies various platforms, i.e. social media, advertising, marketing and Rockies Magazine.
• Assist as needed with various administrative functions within the Communications and Marketing Department, such as photo tagging, filing, event operations, etc.
JOB QUALIFICATION (JOB SPECIFICATIONS):
• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in communications, public relations, sports management or related field
• Media relations or communications experience with a professional sports or college program preferred
• Strong knowledge of baseball, statistics and game/team history
• Strong interpersonal communications skills, ability to work effectively and professionally with people at various levels inside and outside the organization, especially Major League players, staff and members of the media
• Highest standards of professionalism, integrity and work ethic, and ability to multi-task, time manage and organize
• Excellent writing and editing skills, attention to detail is a must
• High proficiency on all social media platforms and ability to use them effectively
• Proficiency in Excel, Word and layout software (Adobe In-Design primarily, Photoshop and Illustrator a plus)
• Consistent, punctual and regular attendance; willingness to work long hours, weekends and holidays
• Spanish language (verbal and/or written) is a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS/WORK SCHEDULE:
Heavy work schedule from mid-January through September, with possible extension into postseason; other months more traditional hours. Travel possible, including Spring Training.
SALARY RANGE:
Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000 per year. This is a regular status, full-time position eligible for all company benefits.
