JOB BASICS

JOB DESCRIPTION:
As Festival Volunteer Coordinator, you will recruit and manage all volunteers ahead of the 20th annual COLCOA French Film Festival. You will interface with Festival Executive Producer and Associate Producer to recruit volunteers for the 2016 festival, and will interface with the PR Coordinator, Box Office Manager, and other key personnel to coordinate volunteers and logistical support during the festival. You will report to the Executive Producer and Festival Associate Producer. It is a part time job from February 1st to April 15 and duties can be performed from home during that period of time, status reports will be asked weekly. As Theater Manager, you will be in charge during the festival of 3 theaters, making sure they do not overfill, that screenings start on time, and interface with the Box Office Manager and DGA Operations Team. You will also be overseeing the audience vote at the end of each screening. The Festival Volunteer Coordinator & Theater manager needs to be fully available from April 18-26 to work at the DGA and oversee all theaters and volunteers.
If we are happy with each other at the end of the festival, we would consider renewing the contract for the following years.
If applicable, academic credit is offered in addition to financial compensation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Recruiting volunteers; doing outreach to colleges/universities, and other volunteer recruitment avenues.
• Creating and maintaining volunteer schedule; tracking volunteer hours
• Maintaining effective communication with all volunteers via email, phone, and social networking sites
• Supervising volunteer shifts during the festival; working closely with various festival departments to assign volunteer shifts (box office/ticketing, special events, guest services, etc.)
• Organizing all meals and ticket rewards for volunteers
• Writing thank yous for all volunteers post-festival and entering all volunteer related contact information into the database
• Working with festival staff to coordinate Festival Wrap Party for all Festival volunteers
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail; strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and multi-task
• Must have experience in event planning and/or volunteer coordination
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail clients, and social networking sites
• Ability to work with (and learn from) diverse communities and individual personalities
• Ability to prioritize, delegate, and work well in high stress situations
• Ability to be patient
• Excellent customer service experience
• Possess a valid California driver's license and automobile insurance

COLCOA FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL is committed to promoting new French films in the U.S. and to showcasing in Hollywood the vitality and the diversity of French cinema and, since 2015, French television programs. In 19 years, 606 films have been selected. the festival has continually evolved to become a 9-day showcase of at least 65 films, with a capacity of more than 24,700 in 2015, an average of 3,000 attendees per day and an occupancy rate of 91.3%. With 22,500 attendees in 2015, COLCOA is now one of the largest film festivals in Los Angeles.
The festival takes place each year in April at the DGA.
