Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America
CNN seeks a talented Writer (Temporary) to join the Ticker team in Atlanta, GA!
Your Role Accountabilities…
Writes 5-7 line story blocks based on the day's news, news conferences, on-air interviews and other approved source material for the CNN U.S. Ticker. Ticker's audience requires complete, balanced news blocks in short increments. Every word must count.
Must be well-versed in the news of the day. Be fully read-in on prior news stories to ensure relevant, most compelling, and up-to date information is presented to the CNN Ticker audience. Determine a story's relevance and organize information accordingly. Must use reliable news judgment consistently.
Communicate/collaborate with Ticker teammates, news gathering, fellow members of CNN Digital, and other news teams throughout CNN to gather content for the Ticker.
Seek avenues to improve editorial and journalistic skills. This can range from offering alternative lines to use in story blocks to taking WBD-offered classes.
Your Qualifications & Experience…
Concise written communication skills. Must have excellent grasp of language, knowing when to write straight news and identify opportunities to be creative
Working knowledge of the CNN US newsroom, structure and systems - MediaSource, inews, viz Rt graphics system
3-5 years of writing experience in online, print or TV production.
Ability to thrive in a challenging and dynamic news environment
Demonstrated news knowledge and journalistic skills
Organizational skills.
Must be strong team player, eager and able to collaborate
Spanish or other language skills
