CNN is looking for a Vice President of Audience Strategy & Newsletters. The person will be responsible for helping connect our editorial storylines with our audience interests on all of CNN's digital platforms, innovating on story formats and creating and leading the newsletter strategy and execution. This role will partner deeply with our content, research, feedback and products teams to determine the right audience target and engagement strategies. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of audience measurement and science and how storylines and categories resonate; storytelling formats and innovation around them; newsletter editorial strategy and understanding ''jobs to be done'' with newsletters; and an innovative mindset. The person will have experience in creating and managing high-performing teams and will have demonstrated the ability to drive growth and deliver against ambitious business strategies.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Develop and build comprehensive new audience strategies that are aligned to strategic goals.
• Develop and execute Newsletter strategy, in partnership with editorial and talent around CNN.
• Innovate and drive forward and innovate on new story formats, to ensure our content is bringing value to our audience
• Collaborate with internal teams, including the research, programming, feedback and product teams to develop a cohesive strategy and execution.
• Conduct thorough market research to inform audience development strategies and identify opportunities for growth
• Lead and participate in the cross-functional teams in pursuit of new opportunities, from initial prospecting to closure.
• Provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and strategic plans
• Lead the organization in experimenting with new ideas, technologies, and methodologies to stay ahead of market trends..
• Ensure there is a strategy and execution on feedback and data on our audience usage
Qualifications and Experience…
• Leadership: You have 8+ years of experience leading business development or related functions, specifically within a media or digital company. Demonstrated ability to communicate across the organization and to Executive Leadership, having led large teams to success.
• Audience Strategy: You have a proven track record in developing strategies to engage and grow audiences. You understand the different storytelling formats and how to determine what content brings value to our audience.
• Strategic Vision: You have experience creating and executing a holistic business strategy. You are adept at balancing long-term vision with short-term execution.
• People Management and Collaboration: You are an experienced people manager with 7+ years of experience. You have an inclusive mindset and can coach and motivate your team. You excel in cross-functional collaboration.
• Execution and Results: You have managed complex projects and delivered results on time. You are aggressive about your goals and help your team manage tradeoffs. You focus relentlessly on delivering impactful work.
• Innovative Thinking: You stay up to date on the digital and technological landscape to understand competitors' tactics and market trends. You are not afraid to take a risk in adopting something new.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $210,000.00 - $390,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and sick time and vacation.
