The Job
The CNN Senior Field Production Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of staff and resources in the West/Mid-West Region, Image + Sound (I+S) Field Production and Creative Services departments. They will lead a team of Producer/Editors, Photojournalists and Directors of Photography, effectively utilizing innovative and forward-thinking approaches to technology, creativity, editorial judgment, and teamwork in their daily work. Works closely with the Sr. Director, Field Production to lead and innovate in the areas of field production, photojournalism, creative services and creative story telling from an editorial and aesthetic standpoint.

The Senior Field Production Manager will possess subject matter expertise in use and understanding of high-end, file-based production for broadcast and digital publication and end-to-end media asset management.
The Senior Field Production Manager works closely with senior newsgathering leaders, partners and I+S management from across the country on daily assignments, future production needs, and broader event planning to ensure proper and efficient planning and resource usage on all productions involving CNN I+S personnel and resources.
The ideal candidate will have experienced leadership, background in both news and cinema production, ability to build strong relationships with partners, team mentorship and knowledge of linear, digital products and streaming services.
This position reports to the Sr. Director of Field Production, and indirectly to the Sr. Director of Creative Services, to ensure consistency in editing and field production SOP's, best practices, staff development and efficient utilization throughout Image + Sound. The Sr. Field Production Manager is on-call 24x7 and is expected to respond to all business-related communication in a timely fashion.
The Essentials
• Minimum of 5 years managerial experience leading direct reports, or comparable experience.
• Direct experience with budgeting, disciplinary process, hiring, metrics analysis, and project management.
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills, diplomacy, training, collaboration, and staff development.
• High level organizational skills, ability to prioritize and communicate effectively in a fast-paced news environment.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a photojournalist and/or producer/editor experienced in all aspects of field production, media management/file-based production with demonstrated high-level and creative skills in lighting, editing and photography.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must have ability to lift 50 lbs of gear.

• Fluency in Spanish is highly desired.
• Experience leading personnel in a newsgathering environment.
• Managing with metrics-based analytics and data.
• A proven record of group management, leadership, developing and supporting teams and successful communication and collaboration that spans all departments with CNN.
• Demonstrated business acumen in dynamic newsgathering environment.
