The Job
CNN's international video team is an Emmy-award winning team based out of London that creates world-leading video content for all CNN digital platforms. We curate and drive a premium online viewing experience for the international audience, with a talented group of producers, editors and animators who pitch, write, produce, shoot and edit digital videos. This is a highly connected team that collaborates across the organization to cover the full editorial gamut from core news to features and topical verticals including business, tech, health, climate, style, gender equality and more. Our output spans formats ranging from daily quick wins right up to cinematic series, interactives and feature length documentaries for the likes of As Equals and Style. We tell human-centred stories with the aim of informing, inspiring and engaging the largest global digital audience in news today.
The Senior Producer, Digital Video is responsible for driving our daily and enterprise output of international original news video for CNN Digital, based in London and focusing on international news as part of a global team. This is a leadership role that involves representing digital video across the organisation, pitching ideas, making assignments, and overseeing production of daily and breaking news videos as well as in-depth news features told through innovative formats and ambitious use of video. You'll be a talented journalist and natural leader, confident operating independently and leading others, who will seize the opportunity to inspire and empower your team to take risks and push the envelope on digital news storytelling, making the most important visual stories sing online.
The Daily
• Inspiring the team to push the boundaries on use of video in storytelling, to be creative and innovative whether working on a daily news video or a long-term feature.
• Driving enterprise news coverage including series, interactives and short docs.
• Identifying daily news and trending moments our audience wants to watch.
• Collaborating with network and newsgathering to plan ahead for big events.
• Drive partnerships with teams and correspondents across the global CNN network.
• Generating ideas for daily and enterprise videos.
• Using performance data and audience insights to inform assignments.
• Supervise production, giving feedback on scripts and video edits.
• Communicating and collaborating with key partners across CNN.
• Managing junior members of the video team.
The Essentials
• Demonstrable experience in a national or major media market.
• A proven track record of excellent news judgment, creative storytelling, and a love for breaking news.
• Experience creating and overseeing video, ideally on a digital platform, including complex and sensitive stories.
• Experience shooting in the field.
• Knowledge of post-production software such as Adobe Premiere or similar.
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require.
• A team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
While we do offer a flexible work environment, this position requires consistent work days in the office.
