Senior Live Desk Editor

Global Planning Domestic Senior Live Editor 1 oversees the management of the live desk and the collaboration with editorial leaders, show teams, and platforms. This includes prioritizing day of requests and collaborating with editorial leader on deployments. The senior editor is expected to take the lead in troubleshooting problems, working with Planning and the dayside desks to proactively identify upcoming needs. This leader will also act as the bridge between the editorial and technical needs and innovation of television and digital video platforms to be able to best position the live desk for success.

Your Role Accountabilities…
• Create the daily plan for managing field live shots for all CNN platforms. This includes collaboration with editorial staff to approve live requests and coordinating with show TPMs on the logistics that support those lives.
• Lead in breaking news to coordinate the material that is needed for all of CNN's platforms.
• Guide the live editors to ensure that content is alerted across the organization and liaison with our international and affiliate partners to provide clear guidance on to teams.
• Assist with the show teams and digital video with resource coordination.
• Work with the editorial planning team to manage day-to-day movement and assignments of CNN trucks and other transmission resources and staffing of teams.

Qualifications & Experience…
• The successful candidate for this position will have 7-10 year's experience in a leadership role.
• Preferable news background, operational and logistics role with control room experience will be helpful to this candidate.
• Lead a team through a fast-paced environment, live news environment with deadlines and the ability to quickly problem-solve.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule as the news cycle and deadlines dictate.
• Understanding of emerging technology and digital platforms.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate.
