CNN's Digital Video Production team creates custom video content for all CNN platforms and select social platforms. We write, produce, shoot and edit digital videos and collaborate across the organization to cover breaking news and other important topics such as international conflicts, climate change, health, business and more.
This Senior Producer is primarily responsible for managing CNN 10, a daily news show for students over 13 and other viewers who want to learn about current events and global issues in 10 minutes or less. They will be responsible for assigning news stories of the day and features for future shows, brainstorming ways to bring in new audiences and creating pathways from CNN 10 to CNN's other platforms and products.
The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller with a passion for breaking news who is confident operating independently and leading others in a fast-paced news environment. They should be able to produce -- and guide others to produce -- video that will engage a younger audience both in and out of the classroom. They should be comfortable working with talent and have experience optimizing video content for digital platforms. Strong editorial judgment is a must.
This position must be in Atlanta. It is currently a Sunday-Thursday schedule.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Identify daily news and trending video stories to create a daily show rundown
• Use performance data and audience insights to inform upcoming assignments and creative changes
• Research, write and gather elements for scripts
• Work with talent to record the daily show and additional elements for social platforms
• Work with the editor and graphics teams to evolve the show's format, tone and style in response to audience needs
• Ensure all published videos adhere to CNN's editorial and production standards
• Plan ahead for news events and other network priorities
Qualifications & Experience…
• 7+ years of working at a major media outlet, or equivalent experience
• At least 1-2 years of managing others
• A track record of excellent news judgment and a love for breaking news
• Experience creating digital video and supervising its creation
• A team player with strong communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with social media platforms and vertical video
• Knowledge of post-production software such as Adobe Premiere or similar
• Flexibility to multitask and adapt to on-going changes in the media industry
• Clear leadership style. Ability to articulate expectations & hold others accountable
• Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require.
