Job Title: Production Assistant

Job Summary:
The CNN Production Assistant is an early career role supporting CNN Worldwide by working in three key areas: live programming (teleprompting), video production (basic editing), and newsgathering (logging daily news events). This position provides an opportunity for hands-on experience in live news production and editorial tasks.
Responsibilities:
• Support live programming by assisting anchors with teleprompting and delivering scripts
• Perform basic video editing, including verifying aspect ratio, audio, and video levels
• Publish content for CNN affiliates, such as sots, Vos, and light package work
• Assist in newsgathering by viewing video and creating descriptive shot sheets
• Provide production support in control rooms, including guest greeting and mic'ing anchors
• Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, and prioritize tasks with correspondents and producers
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, political science, or a related field preferred
• Previous newsroom experience or internship in a news environment preferred
• Strong understanding of current news events and a curiosity for both current and historical events
• Experience with file-based workflows and basic video editing
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively under deadlines and in a team environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook
• Language skills are highly valued
• Ideal candidates will be pursuing careers in journalism (producing, video editing, writing, reporting, or assignment desk work)
Work Schedule:
This is a 24/7 news environment, so candidates must be prepared to work overnights, weekends, and holidays in Atlanta or in a hybrid setting.
