Your New Role…
CNN is seeking a producer to cover US crime and law enforcement.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Work with CNN's Crime & Punishment team of correspondents, producers and editors to report on stories about crime and law matters at large.
• Cultivate sources among state and local agencies, advocacy groups, legal experts and others to break news and drive coverage.
• Experience in covering law enforcement and/or the courts preferred.
• Understanding of using social media and online tools to assist reporting.
• Monitor internal news gathering threads, on-air interviews and reporting, and competing news outlets' coverage to coordinate with editors about needed content for CNN platforms.
• Generate, pitch and execute creative enterprise and day of news story ideas for television and digital.
• Collaborate with editors, photojournalist, guest bookers, show and segment producers to create compelling packages for the network.
• Produce live segments, both in the field or in the studio or from remote network locations
• Oversee and manage production of reporter packages from concept to delivery; including idea generation, story research, news gathering, writing and postproduction.
• Writing scripts with varied reporter support
• Leveraging skills in field producing, interviewing in person and remotely, creating and signing off on graphics as research and other postproduction elements and signing off on graphics as research and other postproduction elements.
Qualifications
& Experience…
• The successful candidate for this position will have a minimum of 6 years or more years of editorial experience, including writing and package production and field production at either a cable or broadcast network.
• A strong interest in crime is essential.
• Position requires outstanding news judgment, critical and strategic thinking, organization skills, and an ability to be persistent yet diplomatic.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Continuously develop and maintain sources that result in original reporting and sourcing for CNN.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment that is 24 hours/ 365 days a year, including last minute travel.
• Degree in Journalism or equivalent work experience.

The Legal Bits…
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $84,000.00 - $156,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
