The Job
The DC General Assignment Producer I will be a multi-faceted utility player for a variety of field assignments – ready to produce a Supreme Court liveshot, provide editorial readouts to the network pool at a Capitol Hill stakeout, march with protesters on the National Mall, or travel to presidential or political events.
The Daily
In addition to field work, the producer's duties may include producing taped pieces daily for various bureau correspondents, writing for CNN.com, or supporting the News Desk with editorial or planning functions.
The Essentials
Must possess at least 3 years of field producing and editorial experience at either a cable or broadcast network, with DC experience strongly preferred.
Must be passionate and competitive about political and Washington news.
Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment, critical and strategic thinking, fine-tuned organization skills, and an ability to be persistent yet diplomatic.
Must maintain a flexible, problem-solving mentality while working with reporters across all beats in the Washington newsroom.
Must stand ready to travel at a moment's notice and for assignments serving a 24/7/365 news operation.
