Full Time Job
The Newsource Package Producer is essential to the breaking news live product and daily package production of CNN's affiliate news service. The role develops, researches, writes, and produces day-of news packages. The position is also responsible for turning original health and consumer focused stories. Field producing and booth producing live shots with CNN Newsource correspondents is also an important part of a package producers' role. This position is necessary to ensure the quantity and quality of Newsource original content offerings, CNN editorial standards and affiliate expectations.
Your Role Accountabilities…
• Interview subject matter experts, research, write and produce feature and day-of-packages.
• Ensure stories meet all legal and standards guidelines of CNN.
• Collaborate with CNN Newsource correspondents on packages used in live shots from the scene of breaking news or planned events.
• Work with technical directors in control room and crews in the field to coordinate live reports for affiliates.
• At times, travel on breaking news and planned events to field produce for Newsource correspondents.
• In field role, provide editorial and logistical support to correspondents doing live reports on location at breaking news settings or planned events.
Qualifications and Experience…
• The Package Producer must have a bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or a related field.
• Candidates must have a minimum of 2 or more years package or segment producing, and 3 years or more of news experience.
• Ideal applicants should be strong writers and possess copy editing skills.
• Must be able to work with a sense of urgency yet remain calm under the pressures of a deadline.
• Must be flexible, organized and highly creative.
• Impeccable news judgement.
• Must be collaborative and work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Local market experience is helpful.
