The Newsgathering Production Manager role has these major areas of responsibility.
Project Management – Overseeing and executing various projects both internal and external for WBD and CNN. This includes process improvement projects, bureau initiatives, bureau moves, restacks, as well as WBD consolidation and streamlining projects.
Production/Unit Managing – Collaborating with numerous departments both remotely and in the field across CNN on Special Projects & Special Events (Deaths of notables, Int'l Presidential travel, Sporting events etc), News Events (New Years Eve programming, Documentaries) and Breaking News globally. Including being point of contact for NYC bureau operations and logistics.
Budgeting & Finance – This position in collaboration with finance/business partners challenges current business boundaries to drive innovative solutions to challenges and identify synergistic opportunities. The focus lies on exploring and implementing initiatives that lead to cost savings, promoting awareness of cost-saving measures, and partnering with various departments to establish best practices. Provide visibility into business activities by maintaining cost reports on expenses and providing ad hoc analysis to facilitate decision making. Invoice Approval: Coding, tracking, and approving invoices. Ensuring business activity remains in compliance with company policy. Expense Approval: Reviews and approves T & E expense reports in Concur ensuring policy is followed and proper allocations.
Your Role Accountabilities…
Project Management
Collaborate with management to organize, build, and present relevant CNN capital projects.
Responsible for project planning, establishing goals, coordination, budget management, project milestones, communication and acting as a bridge between editorial management and other departments/stakeholders.
Provide guidance and direction on key operational objectives, procurement, and budgetary decisions.
Partner with key stakeholders to ensure that projects remain on track and within their intended scope.
Production/Unit Managing
On site/field production support for events and breaking news as needed.
This can include surveys, pre-event budget, negotiation with vendors, freelance and accommodation. Setup workspaces, manage runners, order & manage catering, supplies and other event logistics.
Work with editorial teams to develop venues, locations, vendors and support security and Health & Safety to ensure rules are followed as per risk assessments.
Ensuring budgets are created and executed correctly, ensure vendors are compliant with the CNN rules, set up in our payment systems and paid.
May be assigned time sensitive and unfamiliar activities during breaking news. These tasks may include travel arrangements, compiling and disseminating information to field teams, ad hoc requests, etc.
Business Support & Planning
Working closely with finance and management teams to develop and monitor budgets. Tracking expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring projects stay within allocated resources.
Extensive knowledge of internal allocations and departments.
Shadow departments to ensure best practice, cost analysis, quantify needs.
Embed with editorial and planning teams to understand their goals and objectives and provide streamlining whilst helping to create consistency around workflows.
Improve and increase knowledge sharing across different business groups.
Manage invoice, expense report, and cash advance approval processes.
Qualifications & Experience…
6+ year's experience in news, media involved in dynamic events management
Influences and motivates people.
Develop strategic and strong relationships with stakeholders across the business.
Facilitates quality decision making.
Demonstrates leadership and strong interpersonal competence in managing conflict and difference.
Comfortable working with and presenting information to business executives.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, handle unforeseen circumstances, and make quick adjustments.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $77,070.00 - $143,130.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
