CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) is responsible for the business operations of CNN's properties outside of the United States. All commercial activities for brands such as CNN International, CNN Arabic, CNN Style and CNN Business are aligned within the division. This encompasses the advertising sales, sponsorship partnerships, commercial content development, content sales, brand licensing, distribution and out-of-home operations, business development and marketing for the world's leading international news provider.
About This Opportunity
The Director of Audience Insights will be responsible for leading the overall team, driving innovation, and ensuring everything we do is driving business growth. This position will manage a team of experts responsible for delivering data-driven insights to underpin our decision making, embedding measurable audience insights within all aspects of our service offering as well as strengthening and enhancing our commercial strategy for CNN International. The Audience Insights team puts the CNN viewer at the heart of everything that we do. This team actively provides the business with a deeper knowledge of the CNN International consumer, international marketplace, and board industry trends to shape how we meet the needs of our viewers.
This is a new role within the team and is key in delivering on our vision as CNN International Commercial and the goals of the Audience Insights team. This position will have access to research, content insights, social analytics, digital operations and product detail to develop and drive strategic audience strategy and narrative. You will collaborate and work in close partnership with Revenue Strategy, Client Service Managers, US Research & Analytics, Ad Sales teams, Digital Business Operations teams and our branded content studio to develop how we understand our audiences, measure performance and drive innovation.
As the Director of Audience Insights, you will:
• Ensure the team is set up for success through strategic and high-level output delivery to senior stakeholders (internal & external) helping inform strategic investment decisions
• Create a 3600 audience insights discipline across TV, digital, social utilising a variety of techniques and approaches (from first party to third party) to answer client's business challenges
• Lead the team of audience insights experts globally and managing the team's pipeline, quality of output and timely delivery of projects
• Lead the audience strategy and narrative for key proactive and renewal pitches, connecting with different part of the business to ensure the seamless integration of insights into our strategies
• Develop strategic narratives and thought leadership solutions so we can more effectively target new clients
• Oversee the sharing of measurable data and strategic insights to strengthen our narrative at all stages of the campaigns
• Continue to drive and enhance our audience understanding capabilities and campaign effectiveness approaches with new and modern solutions by staying up to date with the industry
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with CNN International Commercial Ad Sales Directors, communicating on a regular basis, understanding their challenges, and identifying the best audience resource(s) to deploy
• Understand the revenue targets and current performance of CNN International Commercial to provide the required support to commercial teams to achieve these targets

• Demonstrable experience in research, insight analysis, analytics, or consulting in understanding audiences and evaluating campaign performance
• Proven experience in a strategic leadership role: ability to mentor and inspire
• Extensive experience deciphering data, insights, and audience research for a media organisation
• Global understanding of cultural differences and sensitivities
• Be self-aware and able to integrate with a fast-paced sales team
• Ability to spot audience and sales trends across regions and categories
• Meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a high standard of quality
• Hands-on, problem-solving abilities, a person with a ''can do'' attitude
• Good grasp of global news and current affairs
• An experienced presenter: Be as precise and powerful in your analysis as you are in your communication and narrative
• Working knowledge of first party audience insights and analytics approaches
• Understand the ad-tech and data-tech landscape to connect audience insights to audience targeting to audience validation
• Working knowledge of third-party survey providers such as GlobalWebIndex, Ipsos Global Business Influencer
• Working knowledge of social insights and audience intelligence platforms
• Working knowledge of data analysis programming language (VBA, R, Python, SPSS, etc.)
