CNN is seeking an enterprising, versatile editor to support CNN's Chief Law Enforcement Analyst John Miller and manage other reporting from the criminal justice team.
The Editor, Criminal Justice Reporting must be a journalist with a deep curiosity and an interest in crime reporting, as well as a record of editing succinct, sharp material from reporters while news is breaking. This person will work hand in hand with CNN's Chief Law Enforcement Analyst to help support and sharply frame reporting in breaking news, as well as helping to shape distinctive pieces and analysis. Additionally, this editor will work closely with all of the reporters who make up CNN's esteemed criminal justice team, helping to frame and elevate their distinctive reporting. Although this position does not require prior TV production experience, the individual must also be interested in learning basic aspects of linear television, including finding and helping to clear video elements for breaking news and investigative stories.
This role will be based in New York and report to the Vice President of News. This editor will work closely with other teams in the National news hub and domestic bureaus, as well as with the Justice team in Washington.
Your Role Accountabilities...
• Coordinate between the multiple platforms where John Miller's work appears, including editing digital text and on-air scripts, and communicating about any new content that is being worked on to both control room producers and digital hubs.
• Work closely with our newsdesk producers to help find, vet, and clear video and picture elements for John's stories.
• Pivot quickly from one assignment to another as news demands.
• Communicate clearly and coordinate smoothly with colleagues across the news organization.
• Work closely with all members of the criminal justice reporting team both on text and on video elements to help ensure cohesion and elevate the team's unique material.
• Apply exceptional editorial judgment, fairness and rigor to all job responsibilities.
Qualifications...
• 3 or more years of editorial experience
• College degree or equivalent industry experience
• Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills and understanding of storytelling on multiple platforms
• Can work an afternoon into evening schedule, with the flexibility to work a varied schedule as the news dictates
• Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment 24 hours/ 365 days a year

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $91,000.00 - $169,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
