Role Overview:
CNN is seeking a Copy Editor for its 10am-11am team. The Copy Editor is responsible for ensuring that scripts are accurate, balanced, and follow the Executive Producer's instructions and CNN standards. They will verify all components, including graphics and scripts, for on-air use.
Responsibilities:
• Edit scripts to ensure accuracy, style, and clarity
• Check source material and verify font and tape information
• Work closely with producers on any editorial issues
• Rework and improve scripts to make them compelling and user-friendly
• Ensure consistency with CNN Stylebook and Legal Standards
• Format scripts with instructions for the director
• View video and graphics to ensure consistency between visuals and scripts
Qualifications & Skills:
• 5 years of broadcast news writing or editing experience
• Four-year college degree or equivalent industry experience required
• Strong editing skills in accuracy, balance, language, and style
• Ability to produce quality work quickly and adapt to breaking news
• Familiarity with CNN font codes and standards
• Team-oriented, cooperative, and flexible
