The Job
CNN seeks an Associate Producer for the International Video Programming team in London. The International Video Programming Team supports CNN's editorial mission and oversees the placement of international video across all of CNN's platforms reaching a global audience. The Associate Producer for Video Programming publishes video and supports programming duties in a fast-paced newsroom, including but not limited to writing headlines and publishing content to CNN's core and social platforms including desktop web, mobile web, mobile apps and third party sites such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.
The Daily
• The Associate Producer will publish, edit and produce compelling video news for CNN's digital platforms, with a focus on the digital output from CNN's linear TV channels. They will ensure digital audiences are exposed to the most timely international news stories and best of CNN's journalism from around the globe.
• The Associate Producer will ensure CNN's digital video meets the highest editorial standards, adhering to CNN Standards and Practices and Legal guidance.
• The Associate Producer will support Producers, Producer IIs and Senior Producers in the programming of video on CNN's digital platforms, filling in for Producers to program CNN's homepages.
• The Associate Producer will work with the whole of CNN's editorial operation in Atlanta, New York, London and Hong Kong. They will pitch video stories and work with content production teams on their digital output, providing feedback in a collaborative group setting. They will work on a range of topics and verticals including core news, US politics, travel and style.
• The Associate Producer will work in a live newsroom environment, they will monitor incoming video feeds, press conferences and events for video news opportunities.
• The Associate Producer will monitor real-time data and use digital analytics to inform editorial decisions and help meet CNN's digital business goals.
The Essentials
• Basic news writing and headline-writing skills.
• Basic video editing skills and working knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro or similar editing system.
• Strong news judgment, a global mindset and a passion for international news.
• Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• A desire to work in a collaborative team environment and ability to communicate with a global team of journalists.
• Ability to work in a fast, high-pressure environment and execute during breaking news situations.
• Flexibility and ability to multitask and adapt to rapidly changing new cycles.
• A familiarity with web video and social media sites.
• Must be able to adapt to a 24h/7 day a week news environment.
• Must be able to work shifts at all times of day and night including weekends as necessary.
The nice-to-haves
• Previous experience working in a news production environment.
• Familiarity with Web publishing and production tools and/or Content Management Systems.
• Degree preferred with course work/major emphasis on communications, TV/Web production, journalism, new media or mass media studies.
