The Job:
Assistant Manager, Promotion Placement
The assistant manager role is vital to the daily function of the Creative Marketing Operations group. This position supervises a two-person team and assists the Promo Placement Manager with the weekly tactical placement of some 1,700 promos across CNN, HLN, Warner Bros/Discovery portfolios, and third-party platforms. This position requires the ability to respond to and resolve issues on a 24-hour, seven-day per week basis.
The Daily:
-Co-manages and assists in the direction of the day-to-day operations of the Domestic On-Air Promotion Placement unit for the CNN & HLN News Networks
-Assists the establishment of the promotional priorities for a given week, and for making sure this information is disseminated to all appropriate parties including On-Air, Integrated, Digital and Research
• Participation in several weekly strategy & planning meetings encompassing On-Air, Integrated, Digital and Analysis.
-Creation of the daily Promo Priorities Document issued to all Domestic Schedulers for the accurate completion of their log schedules
-Assists in the final proof/quality control check on all CNN & HLN promotional schedules
-Manages and executes the receipt of all weekly cross promotional priorities from Legacy Turner and Legacy Discovery networks.
-Supervises two promotional schedulers
-Participates in the recruitment process, interviews, and hiring of staff, including seasonal, temporary employees,
-Often communicates directly with the Senior Manager and Director on issues related to priorities, programming, and current strategies for on-air
-Co-manages the tracking of multiple Ad Sales Sponsored/Barter creative and works closely with the Senior Manager of Promo Analysis to ensure that the committed runs/GRPs are met
-Contributes and influences key decisions in meetings that determine new software updates; enhancements to current internal procedures and processes as well as advising on application developments that involves gathering and analyzing specific research and data
-Participates in various weekly linear platform priorities meetings to determine strategic placement for a given network
-Serves as immediate back-up to the Senior Manager for all issues related to linear programming; also attends and contributes to executive meetings as needed
-Serves as an additional point of contact to producers and master control for all on-air issues. (This entails the ability to field questions and provide answers and quick solutions); Also is in constant communication with producers on upcoming promo production from creation to delivery
• In SHOPS, manages the building of franchises/campaigns/sub-campaigns and their corresponding rundowns. Also utilizes the new Medium website to monitor deliveries for spot ingest and missing material as well as make direct requests to Master Control for spots to be ingested and/or purged.
• Takes complete ownership of the Promo Checklist tracking system for CNN and HLN.
• Maintains the Airtable database on a daily basis.
-Creates Bulk Asset assignments quarterly for all Domestic Topicals
-Creates the Log Assignment Calendar in Outlook for the Domestic Scheduling team.
-Participates in the on-call rotation with the Domestic Scheduling team.
The Essentials:
• Minimum of four years supervisory experience in TV marketing, communications, or a related field
The Nice-To-Haves:
• Prior experience as a writer/producer, marketing supervisor, or linear promotion placement in cable television
