Responsibilities
The Technical Associate will be responsible for carrying out various technical production roles for both live and taped CNBC programming.
Technical production responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Camera Control
-operate Sony robotics system for studio cameras
-set and recall preset
Audio
-mic/ifb guests
-work with four hardline positions at anchor desk
-work with one hardline mic in flashcam and one dial-up IFB
-work with dial-up box near H2 position at anchor desk for non-nbc hits
-Patch telos phone lines into hardline IFB positions at anchor desk when appropriate.
Shading/Lighting
-work with Smartfade lighting board
-use pre-sets on lighting board as a base and fine tune in manual mode
-adjust ND filter throughout the day. Anticipate sunrise and other weather changes as necessary.
-chip cameras using Tektronix scopes
-adjust video levels for proper exposure on the background
-adjust lights and video levels for proper exposure on subject
-paint cameras and communicate with employees at headquarters for appropriate shading
-apply make-up to guests/talent when necessary
Router/RTS Panel
-work with Grass Valley video router. Understand all pages on router system and be able to switch routes quickly when needed.
-work with Bright Author software to route animated loops, video, or pictures to anchor desk and flashcam monitor
-communicate with headquarters using RTS panel.
Qualifications/Requirements
-At least 5 years working in live TV technical operations with strong technical proficiencies in a variety of lighting, camera, & audio equipment
-At least 5 years working in TV field production
-Experience working with high profile guests and talent
-Flexibility to work any shift, including overtime, and be available as needed for breaking news or special programming outside of normal programming hours
