Job Description
We are looking for an experienced financial news editor for the CNBC Markets and premium team covering equities and investing. The editor should be highly skilled at editing stories about stock and other market movements and trends, as well as stories about investing off developments in the news. The ideal candidate would have extensive editing experience, as well as broad knowledge of the financial markets and company financials. The editor should have good communication skills and be able to provide constructive feedback to make reporters' copy better. The editor should also have experience managing a team of reporters, assigning stories and seeing them through to publication.
Responsibilities:
• Edit multiple fast stories a day on financial markets.
• Assign and edit stories about investing.
• Edit investing newsletters.
• Edit enterprise pieces with a longer turnaround, working with reporters to build an engaging narrative.
• Work with the reporters to develop story ideas and how to build the story from the ground up with the proper quotes, facts and visuals.
• Spot market trends and stories the team should write about.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Minimum 10 years editing experience in financial news.
• Minimum 3 years managing direct reports.
• Strong knowledge of various financial markets.
• Editing for speed and quality.
• Solid communication, providing positive feedback.
• Experiencing managing a team of journalists
Desired Characteristics
• BA/BS in Business, Journalism, or related field.
• Deep interest in business news and financial markets
• Experience covering breaking news in competitive environments
• Deep interest financial markets.
• Experience writing and editing financial market
