Job Description
CNBC's News Desk is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Associate Producer (AP) with a passion for news and an interest in business and finance.
The AP works directly with CNBC's reporters and show teams to get content on air in a way that meets CNBC's goals of being Fast, Accurate and Actionable. The AP will be part of our breaking news coverage team, jumping in when news breaks to help prepare elements for air. The AP will also write and produce daily general news and business news updates.
What you'll do:
• Produce stories for each of CNBC's daily live Business Day programs.
• Work directly with anchors and reporters at CNBC Global Headquarters as well as correspondents from CNBC's global network including CNBC Europe and CNBC Asia.
• Create written content and visual elements, including onscreen graphics, soundbites and video for live reports and edited packages.
• Monitor breaking news events and learn produce quickly and accurately across a range of topics.
• Find background information on a wide range of business and financial news stories, including working with reporters and producers to stay up to date on general trends as well as key developments in breaking news situations.
• Write and produce daily news updates.
• Learn various newsroom roles and responsibilities being ready to fill in for key roles as needed.
• Learn to read financial documents, including quarterly reports and analyst notes.
• Work closely with Senior Managers as needed as main point of contact with shows, reporters and network operations.
• Assist reporters and field producers with remote shoots and special projects as needed.
• Write and produce updates for smart home connected devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
• Contribute to CNBC.com and social media when requested.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree and working knowledge of financial and/or business news, political news, and hard news content.
• 2 years of experience in television production (can include experience at an internship or college station)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft office and newsroom systems including iNews.
• Strong knowledge of social media sites including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

• Attention to detail is a must – the AP is often the last stop before content goes on air, so accuracy is critical.
• Interest in business and money.
• Ability to thrive in a chaotic breaking news environment.
• Being a self-starter who can juggle many tasks at once.
This position has some early and late shifts.
