CNBC Product & Technology is looking for a Design Technologist to join our team. The Design Technologist will be a core member of our multidisciplinary, in-house Digital Product Design team that is responsible for user experience and interaction design. The Design Technologist will report to the Web Products Design Lead and will work closely with Product Managers, Editors, UX Researchers, Engineers, and Designers in an agile team structure
This role will be part design, part engineering, with a heavy focus on front-end prototyping and user interface design for CNBC's consumer-facing web experiences including CNBC.com

A Typical Day Includes:
• Quickly generating, sketching and evolving design solutions
• Prototyping front-end web experiences using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
• Identifying and evaluating the viability of open source components
• Defining (or evolving) user experience, interaction and visual design patterns
• Collaborating with design, editorial, engineering and product to iterate designs from concept to final execution
• Leading scope and feasibility discussions to identify best path forward
• Communicating and discussing design solutions with others
• Writing and pushing code to sandbox and production environments
Who We're Looking For:
• The ideal candidate should have a portfolio showcasing proven results in the design and development of impactful customer-centric design solutions, an in-depth knowledge of front-end development, an understanding of interaction and system design, and a passion for understanding the needs of users
• One-part designer, one-part engineer. You are a curious, resourceful team player who loves to roll up your sleeves, build and experiment. You gracefully solve problems under pressure while checking your ego at the door. You are known for your passion for creative problem-solving and attention to detail
• Enjoy shipping small, quick experiments to validate your ideas and opinions
• Are endlessly curious and love to tackle challenges within a creative team
• Possess a strong work ethic and are open to feedback
Requirements:
• 3 years of professional interactive prototyping design experience
• 1 years of experience building web front-end, beyond just prototypes
• Hands on front-end coding experience across a broad spectrum of technologies including (but not limited to): JavaScript, HTML/CSS, XML/JSON, and Responsive Design
• Working knowledge of open-source JavaScript libraries (e.g. React, jQuery)
• Comfortable writing and pushing production-ready code
• In-depth knowledge of design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe CS)
• Working knowledge of design prototyping software (e.g. Framer, ProtoPie)
• Have experience (and are comfortable with) rapid, lean ideation
