Job Description
CNBC is seeking an Associate Producer to join its Specials Unit - a dynamic team dedicated to enterprise premium, long-form taped productions and high-impact special projects across the network. This role is ideal for an AP who thrives on deep storytelling, complex editorial builds, and collaborative, cross-platform execution.
The Associate Producer will work closely with senior field producers, supervising producers, correspondents, editors, and production teams to develop, research, and execute long-form storytelling, investigative pieces, franchise specials, and tentpole projects. The position requires strong editorial judgment, organizational precision, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct in-depth research and pre-interviews to support long-form specials and documentary projects
• Develop scripts, story outlines, research packets, and production materials
• Coordinate shoots, book guests, secure assets, and manage logistics for taped productions
• Collaborate with digital, social, and marketing teams to extend the reach of special projects
• Track budgets, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects stay on schedule
• Assist in post-production, including script revisions, graphics coordination, fact-checking, and compliance
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
Qualifications
• 2 years of experience in television news, documentary production, or long-form storytelling
• Strong writing and editorial skills with attention to accuracy and detail
• Experience working on taped pieces or special projects preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with senior executives and high-profile guests
• Knowledge of business news and financial markets is a plus
