Overview:
Cinereach is seeking a highly-motivated Finance Associate to join the team. This is a full-time salaried position with benefits located at our New York City headquarters , Cinereach is a multi-talented, 20-person team. Our employees are driven by a high level of excellence and can operate in a nimble, startup-like environment. The Finance Associate will work primarily with the Head of Finance but will frequently be collaborating with all members of the team.
The Role:
The Finance Associate will play a detail-oriented and involved role at the organization, supporting the day-to-day activities of the finance department. Specific responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, assisting with our annual audit and other tasks as assigned. This is a wonderful opportunity to be a thought-partner to the Head of Finance on designing and executing finance systems that will help to ensure that Cinereach meets its intended mission.
Candidate Profile:
For this position, the ideal candidate will be someone who strives to tackle projects head-on, be comfortable with self-direction, and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while juggling multiple priorities. They will be exceptionally organized and have excellent communication skills. The candidate will have an affinity for independent films, be driven to innovate in both small and major ways, and be looking to join a passionate, mission-driven team. Previous experience as a Finance Associate (or similar role) in a non-profit or media organization, as well as knowledge and experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Quickbooks are required.
Background & Qualifications:
- (Required) 3-5 years of relevant experience
- (Required) Experience with Quickbooks and proficiency with MS Office, Excel etc.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use basic accounting principles
- A proactive, solutions-oriented self-starter, who possesses a flexible, pragmatic and creative approach to problem-solving
- Able to multitask under pressure, highly organized, detail and process oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize workload, take responsibility for work and see things through to completion
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
- A strong interest in philanthropy and/or the independent film industry
Responsibilities:
- Accurately and efficiently managing accounts payable; including processing checks in a timely fashion, reviewing account discrepancies, reissuing lost checks, reviewing check requests for accuracy, correct account allocation and completeness of documentation submitted, and ensuring accurate data entry of financial transactions
- Accurately and efficiently managing accounts receivable; including processing deposits in a timely fashion and making deposits at the bank
- Annual Audit support and 1099 preparation
- Assisting with creating, maintaining and improving systems and procedures
- Electronic and paper file management and other tasks as assigned
