Communications Intern
Department: Communications & Marketing
Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Term:
April/May 2026 – August/September 2026
Job Summary:
Support the Communications & Marketing department with a variety of duties and responsibilities.
Employees are expected to follow all Cincinnati Reds policies and procedures, serve as positive role models, and manage their workload effectively. This includes demonstrating flexibility, prioritizing tasks efficiently, and meeting departmental productivity standards.
Minimum Requirements:
Education | Bachelor's degree or working toward a degree in communications or a related field
Experience |
• Familiar with AP styleStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
• Copywriting experience
• Strong knowledge of the Cincinnati Reds and Major League Baseball
Skills | Excellent time management and strong attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Education | Bachelor's degree or working toward a degree in communications or a related field
Experience |
• Copywriting experience with school publication or website, and/or an established media organization
• Previous internship experience a plus
Skills | Proficient in AP styleWorking knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and photo editing/clipping experience a plus
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Duty | % of Time
Write stories for Reds.com and help with other copywriting, editing and proofreading assignments for email and web | 25%
Monitor Reds minor league affiliates and update content on team's Pipeline page | 20%
Produce scripts for Reds in-game segments and ballpark announcements | 15%
Help create and edit content for Reds Yearbook Magazine | 15%
Support Communications team with game day needs and off-site promotional events | 5%
Work with Director of Public Relations & Photography on homestand and event planning | 5%
Benchmarking other MLB teams' initiatives, websites, publications, etc. | 5%
Distribute promotional items departmentally and to local media partners | 5%
Assist Marketing team with script writing/editing and additional tasks as needed | 5%
Other duties as assigned | 5%
Reporting Structure:
This role reports directly to the Senior Manager of Communications
Physical Requirements:
• Occasionally required to sit
• Use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear
• Light lifting/carrying to assist with event preparation
• May be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Schedule:
Some night/weekend hours could be required, including games.
Additional Information:
• Seasonal employment will last a maximum of 35 weeks.
